1. What is ‘Web 2.0′?
‘Web 2.0′ has emerged during the last two years as a concept opposed to the technology bubble of the late ’90s, which was funded on Web sites created by big companies and aimed at thousands of users, basically to make massive and impersonal sales.

New Web applications have been developed during the last few months. They are based on the users’ participation (blogs, wikis, services like Flickr), they also apply new technologies to transmit information (feeds and microformats) and offer visitors a “rich user experience” (especially Ajax).

2. Why is ‘Web 2.0′ so popular?3. Why should I attend the conferences?
Because you will discover things like:
- New technologies that you can use on the Internet: APIs, Ajax, feeds, …
- New “state of the art” applications: social tools (blogs, wikis, folksonomies), content syndication, creation of webservices, …

Getting to understand ‘Web 2.0′ may be very useful for IT students and workers because, apart from gaining a knowledge that they can use in their jobs, they can also find great opportunities to start new single or team projects. The new WWW formulas to interact and communicate offer real options to show new initiatives.

The conferences are also going to be a good ground for socialising and getting to know other people from the Atlantic region that do also take part in ‘Web 2.0′, since we will enjoy some lunch all together. The aim of this strategy is to improve the synergy in the region in order to start more ambitious projects.
